For this week we have supercrit which is one of the most important critiques of this paper. From the last showing my project has kind of taken a different direction from instillations and posters to an interactive journal.

For week 5 I worked on my book quite a bit and worked on images and how they would help compliment my book. I began to slightly change the direction from a book into a journal. This journal contains tasks and activities that may help someone overcome depression. The reason I chose to do a book for this instead of an app is because studies show that when youth use technology to solve an issue, they expect the issue to be gone instantly but depression is something that takes time and I believe a journal will help immensely.

At this point, We had a peer to peer critique and we still in early stages of my project. I showed a couple of other designs and had pretty good feed back from my peers. From this critique I started to rethink my project and I had decided to design a book based on stories of everyday people and document the unheard of statistics of suicide around the country and why we are not talking about it. In this book I also put in quotes I thought may help someone going through depression lift their spirit. 

For this class we had a showing for the advisers. Showing my advisor my work and getting more feedback on it. At this point I am still trying to figure out where I can go with my project and how I can push this project to the right direction. For this showing I showed what I wanted to do, and how I wanted to have my end product. These were inspirations for my project. These were also good starting points but these may also portray something else which may be confusing. At this point my project is still not settled for a direction.

For this Class we had our first showing to show what we have been working on for the past couple of weeks. I showed some confronting posters talking about the thoughts of samoan and maori teens. The feedback I got was very good and constructive. I was told to maybe have face on a screen and have the words moving around. This would make it more effective. Another feedback was the lines were a bit too straight but it was a great concept to start with. If the words curved a bit maybe it would give it more depth and meaning. For some, the images were confronting, but this was the whole idea around these posters. 

For week 1 we had Toby Morris speak to our pastoral group about his experiences as a designer and how his failures became his biggest success. We also had our compass map which helped up the direction of the next half our our project. We discussed the 'what' and 'why' of my project. Through the holiday I had done a lot of thinking, doing and discussing the direction of my project and it is coming close to a solution. I went around the community and gathered information of places where I could use to paint on murals .
